About Us

vision

Imagine if the child in detention was yours. In North Carolina, 29 out of every 1,000 youth aged 8-17 are sent to detention centers (NCDPS & NCSBI, 2023). This statistic is more than just a number - it represents a child, a family, and a future. As someone who was incarcerated at 19, I know the importance of guidance and support. The T.A.G. Program aims to reduce this number by providing at-risk youth with a realistic understanding of the consequences of their choices. Our goal is to empower them with knowledge, support, and guidance to make better decisions and avoid the path that leads to detention centers. By working together, we can make a difference and help our youth thrive.

history

The Transforming Adolescent Growth (T.A.G.) program was founded by Brandon Rice and B-Nice Communications, LLC, with a mission to empower youth with knowledge and support to make informed choices. Through phone-based mentorship, formerly and currently incarcerated individuals share their personal experiences and struggles, offering a calm and realistic perspective on the consequences of gang and prison life. By providing a supportive and non-judgmental space, T.A.G. aims to reduce youth incarceration rates and help young people thrive. With a team of dedicated volunteers, T.A.G. is committed to making a positive impact in the lives of at-risk youth.

How it works

How our program works

 Supporting At-Risk Teens through Mentorship

If you're a parent, guardian, or program working with at-risk teens, our program offers a unique telephone intervention. Here's how it works:

  1. Contact our Executive Director via website, email or phone.
  2. Our Executive Director will arrange a time for a highly vetted volunteer to speak with your teen. The parent or guardian will need to be present during the time of the call.
  3. During the call, our volunteer will share their personal experiences and insights to help your teen make informed choices.

Our goal is to provide guidance and support to help at-risk teens navigate challenges and achieve a positive path. To get started, simply click 'contact us' to provide your information, and we'll take care of the rest.
