About Us

vision

In 2023, in the state of North Carolina, the statewide delinquency rate for youth aged 8-17 was 29 per 1,000 being sent to detention centers according to the NCDPS and the NCSBI. Now I know that 29 per 1,000 may not seem like a lot, but let's look at that number from another perspective, yours! What if it was only 1 out of that 29 going to a detention center, and it was your 8–17-year-old child? I created the T.A.G. Program because we are trying to prevent yours or anybody else’s children from becoming number 30. My name is Brandon Rice, and I was locked up at the young age of 19. I wish I had someone to tell me what this prison lifestyle was about instead of being confused by what was portrayed in movies or on television. The T.A.G. Program is hoping that we can subtract from that number instead of adding to it.

history

T.A.G. (Transforming Adolescent Growth) is a program that was created to educate the youth about the pitfalls of gang and prison life, through the experiences of formerly and currently incarcerated brothers and sisters. Instead of using a scare tactic, these brothers and sisters will use a calm approach to talk with them over the phone about the struggles of being incarcerated. A step to stop the trend of our youth becoming incarcerated. They can aim at this instead of each other. T.A.G. is an outreach program that was founded by Brandon Rice and B-Nice Communications LLC. Today, we have volunteers who are willing to give their time and are willing to be patient with each child we encounter.

How our program works

If you are a parent, guardian, or program with at-risk teens our program will coordinate a telephone intervention with your teen(s). You can click 'contact us' to provide us with your information to have one of our coordinators reach out to you. When one of our coordinators contact you, they will schedule a time for one of our approved, highly vetted volunteers to call and speak to your teen(s) concerning the matter at hand.
